- Budget coach provider places extra vehicles on standby
- Company sees increased demand for cross-border services
The UK’s market-leading budget coach operator megabus.com is providing extra vehicles on its inter-city cross-border services to assist passengers affected by the current disruption at the UK’s airports.
Stagecoach Group’s low-cost coach service – which offers travel for as little as £1 – has placed extra vehicles on standby after experiencing an increase in the number of passengers booking the service to travel across the border.
All UK flights are currently suspended as ash from a volcano eruption in Iceland affects the UK’s airspace, leaving some passengers stranded.
megabus.com Operations Manager Ian Laing said: “We are closely monitoring the number of bookings we are receiving and have already provided additional coaches today to meet demand from customers who have been unable to fly.
“We will continue to provide as many vehicles as necessary to ensure we can keep up with passenger demand and do our best to keep Britain moving.”
megabus.com passengers must book prior to travelling. Bookings can be made up to 15 minutes before departure either online at www.megabus.com, by phoning 0900 160 0900 or by visiting the ticket office at bus stations which offer megabus.com services.
